WSSF 2018 in Whistler is Just Around the Corner
It’s that time of year again, the World Ski and Snowboard Festival is returning to Whistler for its 23rd installment this April 10 - 15, 2018! This year the festival has been shortened to a jam-packed 5 days, instead of the usual 10 in previous years. Check out some of the events happening during WSSF below:
Art & Soul
Come out and see what new art is pushing boundaries and lighting the fires of inspiration at WSSF this year. Art & Soul offers artists a unique platform to share what they do with the community and visitors from around the world. Formerly known as State of the Art, Art & Soul invites artists from far and wide to come together in a celebration of subcultures, anti-movements, and thought-provoking mediums.
Saudan Couloir Ski Race
After more than a 20 year hiatus, the world’s steepest ski race, the Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme is coming to back to the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in 2018. This race is set to be a festival highlight, bringing out ski racing legends and big mountain pros from all over. Registration for the event will be open soon and will probably fill up quickly.
Live Music Series
Music has always been a big part of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival, and 2018 will be no exception. Start early with après and keep the party moving late into the night at a variety of different venues offering live entertainment and parties.
72hr Filmmaker Showdown
This always popular event sees filmmakers film, edit, and produce a short film in only 72 hours. Participants must stay within a 100km radius of Whistler while filming their 3-5 minute movie. Once filmmakers are done their films get played on the big screen for thousands of audience members and a panel of expert judges who will decide who takes home Best of Show and bragging rights.
Twisted Tea Slush Cup
An annual fan-favourite event at WSSF is the Twisted Tea Slush Cup. Riders dress up in crazy costumes and try to send it across a slushy pond with style. It’s fast-paced and it’s fun, with prizes given out for Best Trick, Best Costume, Best Wipe-Out, and more, you know it’s going to be a good time.
